SEN Teaching Assistant – Support SEMH Pupils (Richmond)

About the role

We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in South West London. You will work across both primary and secondary phases, helping pupils with social‑emotional and mental health needs to engage, learn and thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEMH needs.
• Assist with emotional regulation, engagement and behaviour management.
• Build positive, trusting relationships and use de‑escalation strategies.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals.
• Promote a safe, inclusive and structured learning environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have additional needs or challenging behaviour (e.g., education, youth work, PRU, care settings).
• Strong behaviour management skills and resilience.
• Calm, empathetic and supportive approach.
• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
• Ability to commit full‑time from the start of the next term.
