SEN Teaching Assistant – Wilmslow

About the role

Join an outstanding specialist school in Wilmslow that supports children and young people aged 5‑19 with autism spectrum conditions and related challenges. As a SEN Teaching Assistant you will work closely with teachers to create a safe, inclusive learning environment and help pupils achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with learning activities and personal care needs.
• Promote independence, positive behaviour and wellbeing.
• Build warm, trusting relationships that make pupils feel safe and valued.
• Assist teachers in delivering a broad, balanced curriculum.
• Adapt approaches to meet the varied needs of each pupil.

Required profile

• Compassionate, enthusiastic and child‑focused.
• Flexible and ready to support wherever needed.
• Committed to safeguarding and pupil welfare.
• GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/Level 3 or above).
• Experience working with SEN (paid or voluntary).
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

Required skills

• Level 2+ qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable).
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable).
• Knowledge of SEN, SEMH or ASD (desirable).
