SEN Teaching Assistant – Year 1 (Full‑time, Preston)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support Year 1 pupils in a Good‑rated primary school in Preston. The position starts in September and runs for the academic year, with the possibility of extending beyond the initial term.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in delivering the curriculum to children with special educational needs.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support, adapting activities to meet individual requirements.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment and monitor pupil progress.
• Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external specialists to implement personalised learning plans.

Required profile

• Enthusiasm for working with young children in a primary setting.
• Experience with SEN is desirable but not essential.
• Ability to commit to a full‑time, year‑long placement.
• Legal right to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
