SEN Tutor – Flexible Part‑time Role in Gateshead

About the role

Randstad partners with schools across the North East to provide specialist tutoring for SEN pupils. The role involves delivering tailored tuition, both face‑to‑face and online, following individual EHCP plans to build core knowledge and boost confidence.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging 1:1 or small‑group sessions (up to 1:6) tailored to diverse learning styles.
• Create lesson plans aligned with EHCP objectives and students' interests.
• Assess student development and record attainment via the internal reporting system.
• Collaborate with schools, foster carers, and social workers to ensure holistic support.
• Operate strictly in accordance with KCSIE and safeguarding guidelines.

Required profile

• Qualified or aspiring teachers (QTS/NQTs), Teaching Assistants (Level 1‑3), HLTAs or recent graduates.
• Minimum 6 months experience working with SEN pupils, disengaged youth, or alternative provisions.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and empathy.
• Strong IT competency with reliable laptop/computer and broadband for online sessions.
• Valid DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
