SEN Tutor – Flexible Part‑Time/Contract Roles

About the role

We are looking for experienced SEN Tutors, teachers, SENCOs or specialist practitioners to deliver one‑to‑one tuition for children and young people with additional needs across Southend and surrounding areas. The role offers flexible hours and long‑term placements, allowing you to build meaningful relationships while supporting learners to re‑engage with education.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, personalised one‑to‑one tuition sessions.
• Assess learner needs and develop tailored learning plans.
• Support progress towards EHCP outcomes and educational targets.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with learners and families.
• Adapt teaching approaches to suit individual learning profiles.
• Record progress and provide regular feedback to stakeholders.
• Promote confidence, resilience, independence and engagement.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a SEN Tutor, qualified teacher (QTS/PGCE), SENCO or specialist intervention practitioner.
• Familiarity with a range of additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, dyslexia, dyscalculia, speech and language difficulties, EBSA and anxiety‑related barriers.
• Ability to work flexibly across part‑time and full‑time hours.
• Strong communication skills with learners, families and management.

Required skills

• Knowledge of SEN teaching strategies and curriculum adaptations.
• Experience planning and delivering personalised learning programmes.
• Ability to assess and monitor learner progress.
