SEN Tutor – Teaching Functional Skills for Learners with Autism

About the role

We are seeking a qualified SEN Tutor to deliver functional English and Maths to learners with autism and other learning disabilities. The role blends classroom teaching with employability and life‑skills development, preparing young people for future work placements.

Key responsibilities

• Teach functional English and Maths to learners, embedding employability and life‑skills content.
• Plan lessons, prepare resources and complete weekly administrative tasks.
• Coordinate with employers, families and job coaches to support learner placements.
• Maintain regular communication with wider stakeholders to ensure a holistic support approach.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with experience in SEN and autism.
• Hold a Level 3 (PTLLS) or Level 5 (DTLLS, PGCE, Cert Ed or equivalent) teaching qualification.
• Willingness to work three days a week on‑site in Barnet.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to liaise with multiple partners.
