SENCO / SEND Teacher – Early Years Specialist

About the role
South Acton Nursery School and Children’s Centre is seeking a dedicated SENCO/SEND Teacher to join its specialist provision. The role supports children with special educational needs across both dedicated SEND groups and mainstream classrooms, ensuring inclusive, high‑quality learning experiences.
Key responsibilities
- Model outstanding teaching and learning for foundation‑stage children with SEND.
- Collaborate with teachers, nursery officers, assistants, and external professionals such as speech‑language therapists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.
- Deliver parent workshops covering behaviour, toilet training, school applications and related topics.
- Provide staff training to promote inclusion throughout the centre.
- Contribute to the reduction of inequalities by helping children achieve strong academic and lifelong learning outcomes.
- Support other maintained nursery schools within the Acton Early Years Federation.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and NPQ SENCO qualification, or willingness to work towards the NPQ SENCO.
- Passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes for all children.
- Motivated, caring and enthusiastic with a commitment to safeguarding.
Required skills
- Strong understanding of SEND legislation and best practice.
- Ability to plan and deliver a high‑quality curriculum for reception‑aged children with SEND.
- Effective communication skills for working with parents, staff and external professionals.
