SEND Case Officer – Immediate Start

About the role

The Local Authority in Brent is looking for an experienced SEND Case Officer to join its team on an immediate, ongoing temporary basis. You will manage a caseload of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring statutory processes are followed and appropriate educational placements are secured.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, amend and review Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) within statutory deadlines.
• Manage annual reviews, phase transfers and complex SEND casework.
• Liaise with parents, carers, schools, SENCOs and multi‑agency professionals.
• Secure suitable educational placements and monitor their suitability.
• Advise families and schools on SEND processes, assessments and support options.
• Attend multi‑agency meetings and maintain accurate case records.
• Prepare responses to complaints, tribunal cases and legal challenges when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a SEND Case Officer, EHCP Coordinator or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice (0‑25).
• Proven ability to manage a complex caseload and meet statutory deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Local Authority SEND experience is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of EHCP drafting and review processes.
• Familiarity with statutory SEND timelines and compliance requirements.
