SEND Learning Support Assistant – 1:1 Support in Primary School

About the role
We are seeking two dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistants to provide one‑to‑one support for reception‑age pupils with special educational needs at a well‑established primary school in Barnet. You will work closely with the school’s SEND coordinator and class teachers to ensure each child receives personalised assistance across learning, play and social interaction.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one support to a designated pupil throughout the school day.
- Assist with classroom activities, learning tasks and playtime, adapting approaches to meet the child’s individual needs.
- Collaborate with the SEND coordinator and teachers to monitor progress and adjust support strategies.
- Promote inclusion by encouraging interaction with peers and participation in the wider school community.
- Maintain accurate records of the pupil’s development and any observations relevant to their support plan.
Required profile
- Experience working with children who have special educational needs, either as a teaching assistant or in a related setting.
- Enthusiasm for supporting young learners and a caring, patient attitude.
- Ability to follow guidance from the SEND coordinator and adapt to the pupil’s evolving requirements.
- Commitment to a full‑time schedule and to working on‑site at the school.
