SEND Learning Support Assistant – School Support Role

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a school in Salfords. You will work closely with teachers to support children with special educational needs and disabilities, helping them achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in delivering education for designated children, participating in daily learning activities.
• Support planning, evaluating, and adapting interventions and teaching materials.
• Report assessments to teachers and contribute to paperwork such as ISP writing and end‑of‑term judgements.
• Carry out assessments related to interventions and help deliver core subjects and life‑skills programmes.
• Participate in CPD and multi‑professional discussions about each child’s progress.
• Work as part of a team to promote well‑being, behaviour management, personal development and address medical needs.
• Liaise with parents professionally and provide feedback.
• Implement school‑based positive behaviour strategies and ensure pupils have necessary resources.
• Supervise children during break/lunchtime and support educational visits.
• Maintain accurate records (e.g., CPOMS) and uphold confidentiality and school policies.

Required profile

• Experience working with children, especially those with SEND.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Understanding of effective behaviour management strategies.

Required skills

• CPOMS record‑keeping system (experience preferred).
