SEND Primary Teacher – Early Years Leader (Reception)

About the role
This full‑time position is for a SEND Primary Teacher to lead the Reception‑aged SEND provision at a highly regarded inclusive primary school in South London. Starting in September, the role offers a pathway to a permanent contract for the right candidate.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a specialist Reception‑aged SEND class, delivering creative and highly differentiated lessons.
- Support pupils with a range of SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition, speech and language difficulties, and other developmental challenges.
- Create an inclusive classroom environment that fosters communication, independence, confidence and curiosity.
- Collaborate closely with support staff, therapists, the SEND team and senior leaders.
- Take an active role in developing and leading the Early Years SEND provision across the school.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
- Experience teaching in Early Years or Key Stage 1.
- Strong understanding of inclusive teaching and supporting pupils with SEND.
- Proven experience supporting children with Autism, communication needs and a variety of additional learning needs.
- Confidence in leading a team and developing high‑quality Early Years practice.
- Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
