SEND Support Professional – 1:1 Child Support

About the role

Randstad Student Support is seeking dedicated SEND Support Professionals to work one‑to‑one with children who have complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. You will provide a stable, nurturing presence that helps vulnerable learners re‑engage with education and thrive in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Tailor support for children with ASD, ADHD, speech & language difficulties, and global development delay using creative, sensory, and practical methods.
• Establish a predictable daily routine that reduces anxiety and builds trust.
• Adapt learning materials and activities to make education accessible, even on challenging days.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and social‑care professionals to meet each child’s holistic needs.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children or young people with complex SEND.
• Ability to recognise triggers, de‑escalate challenging moments, and interpret communication behind behaviour.
• Patience, warmth, and strong professional boundaries to maintain a safe environment.

Required skills

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
• Makaton communication system.
• PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).
• Team Teach methodology.
