SEND Support Worker – Thurrock (Flexible Hours)

About the role

Join Ackerman Pierce Education to provide one‑to‑one support for children and young people with complex SEND and SEMH needs in Thurrock. You will work alongside a tutor, delivering tailored learning experiences from Early Years to KS4 on a flexible, term‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the tutor in preparing learning materials for core subjects and SEND‑specific content.
• Deliver face‑to‑face 2:1 support, using positive behaviour management strategies.
• Write detailed daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals such as SALT, OT, or social workers.
• Record daily attendance using the provided attendance software.
• Support learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist settings when appropriate.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children with SEND/SEMH requirements.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• HLTA certification preferred, or at least two years of relevant UK experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, and proactive attitude.
