SEND Teaching Assistant – Blackburn

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Blackburn on a temporary‑to‑permanent basis. You will support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, helping them succeed academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support and small‑group interventions for SEND pupils.
• Assist with Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets and individual learning plans.
• Support children with emotional and behavioural needs.
• Work alongside teachers to deliver inclusive lessons and classroom activities.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of SEND provision within primary education.
• Patient, adaptable and positive attitude.

Required skills

• No specific technical skills required.
