SEND Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in East London. The role starts in September 2026 and focuses on supporting pupils with complex special educational needs, helping them access learning and develop independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with complex SEND needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging, accessible learning activities.
• Support pupils’ communication, social, emotional and behavioural development.
• Help implement individual education plans (EHCP targets) and behaviour‑support strategies.
• Assist with personal care where required.
• Encourage pupil participation, confidence and independence throughout the school day.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, parents and other professionals.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND, especially complex needs.
• Patient, caring and positive attitude.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Willingness to support personal care needs when necessary.
• Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential.

Required skills

What we offer

• Daily rate of £90‑£120, dependent on experience.
• Full‑time, temporary contract starting September 2026.
