About the role
Prospero Teaching is recruiting a SEND Teaching Assistant for a special‑needs school in Stockport. You will work with pupils aged 4‑19, providing one‑to‑one and small‑group support to help them engage in learning and manage their emotions.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils individually and in small groups, encouraging participation and emotional regulation.
- Provide personal care when required, ensuring dignity and safety.
- Assist in managing challenging or high‑risk behaviours using positive behaviour strategies.
- Build professional relationships with pupils, staff, SEN specialists and external agencies.
Required profile
- Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with severe autism, complex learning needs or sensory impairments.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver personal care and remain calm in challenging situations.
- Strong communication, flexibility and a commitment to safeguarding.
Required skills
- Experience with positive behaviour management plans.
- Ability to set clear boundaries consistently.
