SEND Teaching Assistant (KS2) – Islington, North London

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a warm, inclusive primary school in Islington. The role starts in September 2026 and runs until July 2026, with the possibility of extension. You will work onsite, supporting KS2 pupils (Years 3‑6) and contributing to a supportive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
• Deliver targeted interventions to promote academic progress.
• Assist the class teacher with daily lesson delivery and classroom management.
• Participate in breakfast and after‑school club sessions as required.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant in a primary setting.
• Strong knowledge of classroom practices and SEND strategies.
• Comfortable working with KS2 pupils and delivering interventions.
• Proactive, flexible and able to adapt to varying classroom needs.
• Passionate about supporting children’s learning and wellbeing.

Required skills

What we offer

• Daily rate of £100‑£105 (PAYE).
• Full‑time schedule up to 5 days per week, 08:30‑16:00.
• Fixed‑term contract until July 2026 with potential continuation.
• Opportunities for additional hours in breakfast and after‑school clubs.
