SEND Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Secondary School

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant mainstream secondary school in Hounslow. The role supports students with special educational needs and disabilities, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their potential. The position starts as soon as possible and offers a competitive weekly rate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑class support to SEND pupils across a variety of subjects.
• Assist students during break times, lunch, trips and extra‑curricular activities.
• Apply positive behaviour strategies to promote wellbeing and engagement.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals to plan and deliver tailored support.

Required profile

• Positive attitude and genuine passion for working with SEND learners.
• Previous experience with SEND or vulnerable groups in education, health, social care or youth work.
• Strong emotional intelligence, empathy and excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to learn, with training and CPD provided.

Required skills

• Ability to implement positive behaviour techniques.
• Effective teamwork and collaboration with staff and external partners.
• Adaptability to support diverse learning needs.
