SEND Teaching Assistant – Peterborough (Part‑time)

About the role

Join Ackerman Pierce Education as a SEND Teaching Assistant in Peterborough, providing one‑to‑one support to learners with complex needs. This part‑time, term‑time role offers flexible hours (10‑30 per week) and the chance to make a direct impact on students from Early Years to KS4.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver face‑to‑face 2:1 support alongside a Tutor, assisting with core subjects and SEND‑specific activities.
• Prepare and adapt learning materials for Maths, English, Science and other curricula.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies and maintain a therapeutic learning environment.
• Record daily attendance using the provider’s attendance software.
• Assist the Tutor in writing detailed progress reports and liaise with external professionals such as SALT, OT or Social Workers.
• Support learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist settings when appropriate.

Required profile

• Proven experience supporting children with SEND or SEMH requirements.
• Background in education, youth work or therapeutic settings.
• HLTA certification preferred, though two years of relevant UK experience without formal qualifications is acceptable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable and proactive attitude.
