SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Barnet)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a thriving primary school in East Barnet. You will work closely with a non‑verbal child with complex autism, supporting his integration from the start of the academic year.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily one‑to‑one support to the child, implementing individualized strategies.
• Use PECS and Makaton communication systems to facilitate interaction.
• Maintain accurate records of progress and observations.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a consistent approach.
• Support the classroom environment during the school day (8:15 am – 3:45 pm).

Required profile

• Proven experience working in a primary school with children who have special educational needs.
• Patient, calm, and adaptable personality.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
