SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Radcliffe, Bury)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the Radcliffe area of Bury. You will work closely with class teachers and the SENDCO to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them build confidence, independence and a love of learning.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with SEND.
• Assist pupils in accessing the primary curriculum across all subjects.
• Encourage positive behaviour and support emotional regulation.
• Collaborate with teachers, external professionals and the SENDCO.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs.
• Monitor pupil progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
• Promote an inclusive, nurturing and safe learning environment.
• Follow all safeguarding and school policies.

Required profile

• Experience working with children, preferably in a school or SEND setting.
• Calm, patient and caring approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

• No specific technical skills required.
