SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary Schools in Islington & Camden

About the role
We are seeking caring and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities in inclusive primary schools across Islington and Camden starting in September. The role involves one‑to‑one and small‑group support, helping pupils access the curriculum while building confidence and independence.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group assistance to pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD, speech and language, SEMH and other needs.
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging learning activities.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
- Record pupil progress and communicate updates to teachers and SENCOs.
Required profile
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND (desirable).
- Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Genuine passion for children’s development.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
