SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary Schools South London (Full‑time)

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants to join primary schools across South London. This full‑time, long‑term contract position allows you to work consistently with the same pupils and staff, helping children with special educational needs reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small‑group support throughout the school day.
• Assist pupils during classroom lessons to promote engagement with learning.
• Use visual aids, Makaton, PECS or other communication strategies as needed.
• Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independence.
• Deliver targeted interventions under the guidance of teachers or SENDCOs.
• Support personal, social and emotional development of pupils.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other support staff to ensure comprehensive support.

Required profile

• Experience or strong interest in working with children who have SEND.
• Ability to work full‑time within a single school setting.
• Good communication skills and willingness to work closely with teachers, SENDCOs and therapists.
• Commitment to supporting pupils’ learning, confidence and independence.
