SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Tameside)

About the role

Join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Tameside as a SEND Teaching Assistant. You will support pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them achieve progress both academically and socially.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑class and small‑group support to students with identified SEND.
• Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Encourage pupil independence and engagement in learning activities.
• Support the class teacher in managing behaviour and fostering an inclusive classroom environment.
• Monitor and report pupil progress to the SENCO and teaching staff.

Required profile

• Experience working in schools or educational settings (essential).
• Understanding of supporting pupils with SEND, including autism, ADHD and communication difficulties.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach when working with young people.
• Relevant TA qualification desirable, or equivalent experience.
• Valid Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Availability to start full‑time from 22 April 2025 (or September 2026 as stated).
