SEND Teaching Assistant – Southwark School

About the role
Prospero Teaching is supporting a SEND school in Southwark that educates children and young people aged 4‑18. The school seeks a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a set class from September 2026, providing day‑to‑day support for several students.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and activities.
- Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to students with special educational needs.
- Help prepare learning materials and maintain a safe classroom environment.
- Monitor student progress and report observations to the teacher.
- Support the inclusion of students in all school routines and outings.
Required profile
- Valid Child and Adult DBS check.
- Experience in care, SEND, or support work is strongly preferred.
- Willingness to work full‑time (08:30‑15:30) with part‑time options considered.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow school policies.
Required skills
- Basic classroom management techniques.
- Understanding of SEND principles and strategies.
