SEND Teaching Assistant – Special Schools in St Helens

About the role
Join a dedicated team supporting children with special educational needs in St Helens and surrounding areas. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on pupils with a variety of needs, from autism and ADHD to complex medical conditions, while working in specialist schools, resource bases, and alternative provision settings.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support and small‑group interventions tailored to individual learning goals.
- Assist pupils in the classroom and throughout the school environment, encouraging independence and confidence.
- Deliver sensory, communication and life‑skills activities to promote wellbeing.
- Support personal care where required, following safeguarding and health protocols.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists and multidisciplinary teams to implement and review support plans.
- Record progress and contribute to individual education plans.
Required profile
- Experience in education, SEND, care, youth work or childcare.
- Calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.
- Strong communicator with a passion for inclusive education.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
- Willingness to provide references and complete an Enhanced DBS check if needed.
