About the role
We are seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary provision in Rochdale. The role is full‑time and starts in September 2026, supporting pupils aged 3‑11 with complex autism, SEMH, communication and severe learning difficulties.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with complex SEMH and SEND needs.
- Implement behaviour, emotion and regulation strategies to facilitate learning.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff.
- Assist in delivering EHCP targets and individual learning plans.
- Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour.
- Record progress, incidents and interventions accurately.
Required profile
- Recent experience in a SEND school or specialist provision.
- Proven ability to support pupils with complex SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
- Confidence working in high‑needs environments.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Full employment and education history with references.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
