SEND Teaching Assistant – Specialist Primary Setting

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary provision in Rochdale. The role is full‑time and starts in September 2026, supporting pupils aged 3‑11 with complex autism, SEMH, communication and severe learning difficulties.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with complex SEMH and SEND needs.
• Implement behaviour, emotion and regulation strategies to facilitate learning.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff.
• Assist in delivering EHCP targets and individual learning plans.
• Build positive, consistent relationships with pupils who may display challenging behaviour.
• Record progress, incidents and interventions accurately.

Required profile

• Recent experience in a SEND school or specialist provision.
• Proven ability to support pupils with complex SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
• Confidence working in high‑needs environments.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Full employment and education history with references.
• Legal right to work in the UK.
