SEND Teaching Assistant – St Helens

About the role

EdStaff is seeking an enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream secondary school in St Helens. You will work within the SEND base, supporting pupils with autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour, helping them achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs in line with their EHCP.
• Promote positive behaviour and create a nurturing learning environment.
• Deliver differentiated learning activities that meet individual needs.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and other professionals.
• Follow all school policies, including safeguarding procedures.

Required profile

• Flexible, adaptable and able to build positive relationships.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence working with challenging behaviour and reluctant learners.
• At least 5 GCSEs (grade C/4 or above) including Maths and English.
• Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification or equivalent experience.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) and references covering the last two years.
