SEND Teaching Assistant – Support Pupils with Special Needs

About the role

Protocol Education is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a school setting in Barnet. You will support pupils with special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum and make progress in a safe, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support for pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH or other learning difficulties.
• Assist teachers in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
• Support classroom activities, keep pupils engaged and on task.
• Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs.
• Monitor and record pupil progress and report concerns to the class teacher or SENCO.
• Provide personal care support where required.

Required profile

• Experience working with children with SEND in a school or care setting.
• Strong communication and behaviour‑management abilities.
• Patience, empathy and a proactive approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
