SEND Teaching Assistant – Support Pupils with Special Needs

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Plymouth from September 2026. This full‑time, term‑time only position offers the chance to make a daily difference for pupils with special educational needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEND.
- Support students with autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional learning needs.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons.
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Liaise effectively with teachers, parents and support staff.
Required profile
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
- Experience supporting SEND pupils is desirable.
- Patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
