SEND Teaching Assistant – Year 1 (Full‑Time, Term‑Time)

About the role

Reed Education is partnering with a welcoming 2‑form entry primary school in Cheltenham to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant for a Year 1 pupil. The role runs for the full 2026/27 academic year on a full‑time, term‑time basis, providing dedicated support to help the child access learning, develop socially and emotionally, and meet individual targets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support and targeted interventions throughout the school day.
• Assist the pupil with academic tasks, social interaction and emotional regulation.
• Implement strategies from the pupil’s support plan or EHCP where applicable.
• Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and the wider Year 1 teaching team.
• Adapt learning activities to suit the pupil’s needs and encourage independence.
• Monitor progress and give regular feedback to staff.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient with strong communication skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Passion for inclusion and supporting children’s development.
• Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
