SEND Tutor (1:1 Support) – St Albans

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Tutor to provide 1:1 support for children and young people with complex needs in St Albans. The role is term‑time only, offering up to 30 flexible hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver core subjects (Maths, English, Science) or SEND‑specific content in a one‑to‑one setting.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies.
• Provide a therapeutic, adaptable approach tailored to each learner.
• Conduct baseline academic and emotional assessments to guide interventions.
• Prepare detailed daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with external professionals (e.g., SALT, OT, social workers).
• Record attendance using the company’s attendance software.
• Support learners transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settings.

Required profile

• Proven experience teaching or tutoring children with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• QTS or HLTA preferred, but candidates with at least two years of relevant UK experience are welcome.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, and proactive attitude.
