SEND Tutor – Flexible Part‑Time Home Tuition

About the role
Academics Ltd partners with Kent County Council to provide specialist 1:1 home tuition for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This part‑time position offers 10‑20 hours per week of flexible work, supporting learners directly in their family homes.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver structured, personalised 1:1 tuition aligned with each pupil’s EHCP or care package.
- Plan, adapt and differentiate lessons to meet individual learning goals.
- Collaborate closely with parents, multi‑agency professionals and the council to ensure consistent progress.
- Maintain accurate progress reports in line with Kent County Council requirements.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) – strongly preferred, or substantial experience working with SEND pupils.
- Proven experience delivering 1:1 tuition or alternative provision.
- Strong behaviour‑management and differentiation skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Required skills
- Knowledge of SEND frameworks and EHCP processes.
- Ability to design and adapt lesson materials for diverse needs.
