SEND Tutor – One-to-One Tuition in Durham

About the role
We are seeking experienced SEND Tutors to provide high‑quality, one‑to‑one tuition for children and young people in Durham who cannot attend mainstream education. The role is in‑person, flexible and starts immediately.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in the learner’s home or a community setting such as a library.
- Adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs, abilities and EHCP outcomes.
- Support learners with core subjects, helping them make academic progress at a suitable pace.
- Create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment that encourages participation and confidence.
- Record learner progress and provide regular feedback in line with local authority or school requirements.
- Collaborate with families, schools and case coordinators to ensure comprehensive support.
Required profile
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
- Experience delivering personalised teaching or tutoring.
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient, adaptable approach.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential.
