SEND Tutor (with QTS) – Part‑time

About the role

We are looking for an experienced SEND Tutor (with QTS) to provide one‑to‑one support for a child with autism and SEMH needs in Bromley. The role is part‑time, delivering up to 10 hours a week flexibly, primarily in the child’s home environment. You will work closely with parents and multidisciplinary teams to create a responsive, positive learning experience.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver a differentiated curriculum across core subjects, focusing on maths and literacy.
• Build trust and emotional safety by attuning to the young person’s pace and preferences.
• Use positive, non‑directive methods to support learning and engagement.
• Identify and anticipate sensory and emotional triggers, offering flexible choices and calm regulation strategies.
• Provide regular feedback to parents and multidisciplinary teams.
• Accompany the young person to safe, familiar places that support wellbeing and learning.

Required profile

• Experience working with autistic children or those with complex SEND needs.
• Ability to differentiate lessons based on individual requirements.
• Flexibility to travel to the child’s home in Bromley.
• Compassionate, patient, and able to maintain professional boundaries.

Required skills

• Knowledge of AAC, Makaton and PECS communication systems.
• Ability to use visual timetables, pictures and symbols to support learning.
