SENDIASS Support Worker – Home-based (31 hrs/week)

About the role

The SENDIASS Support Worker will provide confidential, impartial one‑to‑one advice to parents, carers, children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities. Based at home, you will travel to regular meetings in Richmond and Kingston to liaise with local services and support networks.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver accurate information and guidance on SEND legislation and local provisions.
• Maintain confidential records of interactions and outcomes.
• Attend and contribute to meetings with schools, health providers and community organisations.
• Manage complex conversations with a range of stakeholders, ensuring a calm and assertive approach.
• Support the development and delivery of SEND‑related projects and initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience or personal background in special educational needs, disabilities, education, health or social care.
• Willingness to achieve IPSEA SEN Law Training Levels 1‑3 within the first year.
• Strong knowledge of the London Boroughs of Richmond upon Thames and Kingston upon Thames.
• Leadership experience and the ability to handle sensitive discussions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Outlook.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work with databases for record‑keeping.

What we offer

• Salary £23,857.60 pro rata (£26,936 full‑time equivalent).
• 31‑hour per week, part‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term contract (maternity cover).
• 30 days annual leave, increasing to 35 days with service.
