Senior Accountant / Assistant Manager

About the role

This senior accountant position sits within a specialist Farms & Estates team, providing both compliance and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of agricultural enterprises, rural estates and landowners. The role is client‑facing and offers exposure to a niche sector while supporting career development in a hybrid working environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage or support a portfolio of rural and agricultural clients.
• Oversee preparation and review of annual accounts and tax computations.
• Advise on remuneration planning, profit forecasting and capital tax planning.
• Review VAT returns and identify tax optimisation opportunities.
• Build long‑term trusted relationships with clients and act as their commercial advisor.
• Mentor junior team members and represent the firm at industry events.

Required profile

• ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
• Experience in accountancy practice (business services/rural teams) or industry roles within agriculture, estates or rural businesses.
• Strong understanding of the rural/agricultural sector.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Commercial awareness with an advisory mindset.
