Senior Accountant – Business Services (Cambridge)

About the role

Butler Rose, a well‑established Chartered Accountants firm in Cambridge, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its Business Services team. You will own a varied portfolio of owner‑managed clients, delivering high‑quality accounts, tax and advisory work in a supportive, partner‑led environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a mixed portfolio of owner‑managed business clients and act as the primary day‑to‑day contact.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts under FRS 105 and FRS 102 (Section 1A) and management accounts.
• Prepare and review corporation tax computations, CT600 returns and VAT returns, advising on compliance.
• Work extensively with IRIS and Xero, supporting client onboarding onto Xero.
• Review junior team members’ work and provide on‑the‑job guidance.
• Support Self Assessment, Partnership tax returns and MTD filing deadlines for ITSA.
• Prepare and review capital allowance claims where required.

Required profile

• ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
• 3‑6 years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts and corporation tax.
• Excellent communication and client‑facing skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organisational ability.
