Senior Accountant – French Speaking

About the role

Our client, a UK engineering firm operating across the Liverpool/Manchester corridor, is seeking a bilingual Senior Accountant to lead the alignment of French and UK accounting practices during a critical integration phase. The role requires fluent written and spoken French and English, and will act as the financial bridge between the two teams.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, translate and organise financial documents between French and UK teams, using a secure data‑room.
• Assist in reconciling UK GAAP/IFRS with French accounting standards and convert statements from GBP to EUR.
• Serve as the daily liaison, translating technical accounting and tax discussions and drafting bilingual meeting minutes.
• Support post‑acquisition integration: set up opening balances, review journal entries, and aid data migration to the Group ERP.
• Participate in monthly close, verify bank and intercompany reconciliations, and prepare bilingual financial dashboards.
• Prepare documentation for external auditors and monitor tax filings and acquisition‑related invoices.

Required profile

• Fluent French and English with strong written communication.
• Solid understanding of UK GAAP, French GAAP and IFRS.
• Experience in accounting conversion, harmonisation and financial consolidation.
• Meticulous, well‑organised and comfortable working in an international environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, look‑ups, complex formulas).
• Knowledge of UK GAAP.
• Knowledge of French GAAP.
• Familiarity with IFRS.
• Experience with ERP systems for finance.
