Senior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing independent practice in Manchester. You will own a portfolio of owner‑managed businesses and SMEs, acting as the primary contact and delivering high‑quality account preparation and commercial advice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a mixed client portfolio, serving as the day‑to‑day contact for owner‑managed businesses.
• Prepare and review accounts to a high standard, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Collaborate with senior colleagues to support the wider client base.
• Provide practical, commercial advice by understanding each client’s business.
• Help retain and grow client relationships.
• Support and review the work of junior team members.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified, or part‑qualified with strong practice experience.
• Solid grounding in accountancy practice, particularly with owner‑managed businesses.
• Commercially minded with confidence explaining numbers to clients.
• Well‑organized and able to juggle multiple deadlines.

Required skills

• Experience using practice management software.
