Senior Accountant

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established accountancy practice in the North West to hire a Senior Accountant. The role offers the chance to work with a varied portfolio of clients across accounting, tax and audit, and to develop your technical expertise within a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare year‑end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
• Complete personal tax returns (SA100) and calculate client liabilities.
• Produce corporation tax computations and CT600 returns.
• Act as a primary point of contact for clients, managing queries and gathering financial information.
• Support audit assignments, including fieldwork and assisting senior team members.
• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records using cloud‑based accounting systems.
• Identify potential tax and accounting planning opportunities and escalate where appropriate.
• Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to a positive team environment.

Required profile

• Experience within an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong technical knowledge across accounts, tax and ideally audit.
• ACA/ACCA qualified or part‑qualified (or equivalent).
• Experience managing client relationships and handling queries independently.
• Proficiency with cloud accounting software and Excel.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines across multiple clients.
• A proactive approach with a desire to develop and progress.
