Senior Accountant (Part‑Time)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team on a part‑time basis (24‑36 hours per week) in Ulverston. The role will focus on financial control, reporting and audit preparation as the business expands under a new group structure.

Key responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day financial control across multiple entities, including bank, general ledger, balance‑sheet, intercompany reconciliations, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Lead the monthly close, produce accurate management accounts and commentary at department, entity and consolidated group level.
• Prepare consolidated cash‑flow forecasts and support proactive cash‑management.
• Coordinate audit preparation and act as the primary finance contact during the statutory audit.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register, ensuring correct acquisition, disposal and depreciation entries.
• Review, strengthen and document financial controls, month‑end procedures, approval processes and segregation of duties.
• Prepare monthly management accounts with KPI reporting, budget comparisons and variance analysis.
• Assist with UK and international VAT submissions, payroll reporting, corporation‑tax calculations and other statutory compliance.
• Support year‑end reporting, group consolidations and preparation of statutory accounts.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior accountant in a multi‑entity environment.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to own financial control activities.
• Experience preparing for statutory audits and working with finance leadership.
• Ability to produce clear management accounts and analytical commentary.
