Senior Accounts Assistant (1-year Fixed-Term Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accounts Assistant to provide 1‑year maternity cover within our busy finance team. The role is based in Chessington with a hybrid working pattern (three days in the office) and involves close collaboration with the Finance Manager to ensure smooth month‑end processes.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting tasks, including managing the sales and purchase ledger.
• Liaise with the Finance Manager to keep month‑end activities on schedule.
• Collate supplier payments and process them through HSBC for authorisation.
• Maintain up‑to‑date bank payments and receipts.
• Reconcile bank statements, including month‑end reconciliations.
• Assist the Finance Manager with month‑end close, posting journals and preparing reconciliations.
• Support team members to meet accuracy and reporting deadlines.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar accounts role.
• Strong IT aptitude and confidence in learning new systems.
• Team player with excellent attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid all‑round accounts knowledge.
• Advanced proficiency with Sage 50.
• Preferred: experience in an international environment or handling multiple currencies.
• Preferred: AAT qualification or equivalent.

What we offer

• Salary range £33,000 – £35,000 per annum.
