Senior Accounts Payable Assistant – Reading

About the role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Payable professional to join a busy finance team. The role is central to processing supplier payments, purchase ledger activities and banking transactions accurately and efficiently while ensuring compliance with company procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare purchase orders for a range of business services.
• Process supplier invoices, credit notes and related financial transactions.
• Manage accruals and pre‑payments within the finance system.
• Handle intercompany accounting entries and reconciliations.
• Respond to supplier and internal stakeholder queries regarding invoices and payments.
• Set up new suppliers and maintain accurate supplier records in line with compliance procedures.
• Coordinate scheduled payment runs, including international and multi‑currency payments.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve outstanding issues.
• Post bank transactions, direct debits and associated finance entries across multiple currencies.

Required profile

• Significant accounts payable experience, preferably in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong knowledge of reconciliation and online banking processes.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident user of Excel and finance systems.
• Effective communicator able to manage competing priorities.
