Senior Android Engineer – Mobile Security (Contract)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join a high‑performing mobile engineering team within a major UK financial services organisation. The team focuses on mobile security, building and maintaining secure components that protect millions of users across a multi‑brand environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain secure Android components, libraries and services used across multiple applications.
• Contribute to mobile security architecture, standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, architecture and strategy teams to deliver scalable, reusable solutions.
• Support performance optimisation, testing and continuous improvement of Android codebases.
• Help shape the future of mobile security on a large‑scale platform.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Kotlin and/or Java for Android development.
• Deep understanding of the Android SDK, UI principles and best practices.
• Experience with offline storage, threading and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in Android architecture patterns such as MVVM or MVI.
• Familiarity with Android Architecture Components, Jetpack libraries and Jetpack Compose.
• Experience working with modularised codebases and version control (Git).
• Hands‑on experience with UI testing.
