Senior Applied Data Scientist

About the role

LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is looking for an experienced data scientist to drive the development of high-impact, scalable AI solutions, moving beyond prototypes to production systems. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight, working with teams of data scientists to build solutions for financial markets and professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deploy production-level AI models and data-driven solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Tune and optimise AI models to improve accuracy, efficiency and fitness for purpose.
• Evaluate third-party AI solutions on functional and non-functional grounds, such as performance, scalability and business fit.
• Establish and apply coding standards to keep code robust and clean.
• Work with Software Engineers and multi-disciplinary teams to define requirements, direction and development roadmaps.

Required profile

• Extensive experience applying data science methods to real-world problems, with a track record of deploying AI models to production.
• Strong statistical analysis skills, with a foundation in probability.
• Proven ability to manage project timelines and deliver high-quality code aligned with business goals.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical partners.

Required skills

• Object-oriented Python, with expertise in TensorFlow, PyTorch and Scikit-Learn.
• Cloud technologies (Azure and/or AWS) and deployment practices.
• Desirable: working knowledge of DevOps practices, including code versioning, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and monitoring.
