Senior Authorised Person – High Voltage Operations

About the role

The Senior Authorised Person will lead high‑voltage (HV) and low‑voltage (LV) switching activities on construction and asset replacement projects across the distribution network. Working on‑site in Basingstoke, you will ensure safe execution of outages, testing and re‑energisation while complying with Freedom’s safety policies and CDM regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan outages, produce switching programmes and coordinate with System Control.
• Make dead, isolate and earth HV electrical networks.
• Issue safety documentation, permits to work and release apparatus for work.
• Carry out HV testing, fault location and re‑energise the network on completion.
• Maintain accurate records, as‑built drawings and work‑record sheets.
• Ensure all statutory licences, certificates and notifications are in place.
• Support a proactive safety culture and mentor trainees.
• Liaise with site managers, subcontractors, clients and suppliers to ensure smooth project delivery.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications and proven experience in LV/HV switching and electrical safety.
• Ability to work autonomously on complex network projects.
• Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and risk‑assessment processes.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with control centres and stakeholders.
