Senior AWS Cloud Engineer – Data & AI Platform

About the role

As a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer in Santander's Data & AI Domain, you will design, build and operate a secure, resilient and cost‑effective AWS data lake platform. You will collaborate with data engineering, analytics, security and architecture teams to enable fast, safe delivery of data products.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer and operate the AWS data lake infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance and security.
• Design, build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for AWS environments, shared services and platform components.
• Manage data lake services and applications, including ingestion frameworks, processing engines and access layers.
• Implement cloud‑native security controls such as IAM, encryption, network controls and policy enforcement.
• Support DevOps automation, CI/CD pipelines, environment provisioning and release management.
• Monitor, tune and optimise platform performance, reliability and cost within a FinOps‑aligned model.
• Provide operational support for batch, streaming and interactive analytics workloads.
• Collaborate with architecture, security and risk teams to ensure compliant and robust solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing, building and operating AWS cloud platforms at scale.
• Strong background in data lake architectures and data engineering pipelines.
• Hands‑on expertise with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools.
• Solid understanding of cloud security best practices and FinOps principles.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑moving environment.
