Senior Backend Python Engineer

About the role

Join a fast‑growing sports‑tech company as a Senior Backend Python Engineer. You will own end‑to‑end services that handle live‑event traffic at scale, shaping architecture and driving key technical decisions. The role offers full autonomy to design, ship, and operate high‑availability systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead backend development for event‑driven, high‑availability platforms.
• Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP.
• Build services using Python (FastAPI or similar), PostgreSQL, and Redis.
• Create clean, versioned, backwards‑compatible APIs.
• Drive CI/CD pipelines and observability to ensure zero downtime during live events.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience running production workloads on AWS.
• Strong PostgreSQL/SQL expertise, including schema design and query optimisation.
• Proven ability to design robust, versioned APIs.
• Python‑first mindset with experience in FastAPI or comparable frameworks.
• Experience with Redis caching, invalidation, and pub/sub patterns.
