About the role
Join Diagnexia, a digitally‑driven histopathology laboratory at the forefront of diagnostic innovation. As a Senior Biomedical Scientist (Generalist) you will lead the Routine section, ensure high‑quality service, and support research into advanced tissue labelling and digitisation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the Routine section, overseeing technical and scientific operations and ensuring compliance with clinical, CoSHH and UKAS standards.
- Rotate across dissection, IHC and Specials, supervise junior staff, and manage recruitment, appraisals and laboratory targets.
- Maintain SOPs, competency documents, staff training and CPD, and support the quality management system.
- Handle sample receipt, accessioning, grossing, processing, embedding, microtomy, staining and digitisation.
- Lead quality activities including QC, EQA, UKAS audits and resolve technical issues.
- Develop and validate methods in line with ISO 15189:2022 and support research projects.
Required profile
- HCPC‑registered Biomedical Scientist with at least 5 years post‑registration experience in a UKAS‑accredited histopathology lab.
- Demonstrated CPD and competency records; ideally holding an IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma or a relevant Master’s degree.
- Experience in IHC, UKAS audit preparation and supervising staff.
- Strong understanding of clinical significance of laboratory findings and ability to provide technical advice.
